Each single item is hand carved according to the artist’s master piece. The carver requires up to 20 cutting irons in many different sizes and forms to facilitate the production of a figure. The soft lime wood is particularly suitable for carving and allows each figure its own special character. As a result, a truly unique piece is created.
All items are hand painted. Trained painters use water colors and the finest brushes, as they allow the wood grain to remain visible. A specific follow-up treatment lends these figures the originality of a genuine and antique woodcarving.

Size: 2-1/4” to 15”. In 1985, the official name was changed from “Infant of Krumbad” to the “Blessed Child.” It was also listed as “In the Crib” in an old 1950 catalogue. This figurine has been produced in three different finishes. Produced in brownish bisque finish (U.S. Market): full color and white overglaze (various other countries), sometimes found in Belgium. First modeled by master sculptor Erich Lautensack in 1937. (Lautensack died during the Second World War). Restyled by master sculptor Gerhard Skrobek in 1965. The two small holes on the back are designed to hold a wire halo. Full color and white overglaze pieces command varied premiums. Also found with the incised number 78/6 (Arabic) in (TM 1) “crown” and (TM 2) “full bee” trademarks only.

This version has the doughnut, instead of the solid base, with a small patch of raised grass (compared to no raised grass or tall grass as seen on other TMK 2 versions).

Old name: "Night Watchman." There are some variations in color of mittens. Originally modeled by master sculptor Arthur Moeller in 1935. Older models usually incised 15/2 instead of 15/II. A new small size (15 2/0) "Hear Ye, Hear Ye" was first issued in 1985 (A separate page is provided especially for this size figurine). A few sample pieces have been found decorated with bright colors and glossy finish of the "Faience" technique. Size (15/I) was listed as "Temporarily Withdrawn" (TW) from production in January 1999.

The figurine was first modeled by master sculptor Reinhold Unger in 1936 but was not produced in quantity. It features two young children offering flowers and an angel with hands raised in a blessing gesture over Baby Jesus in manger.
The 4-figure piece is crafted in porcelain and hand painted with careful attention to details. It measures 3-1/2" tall x 3" wide x 5" long. It is marked with a pressed in "M. I. Hummel" facsimile signature (her personal stamp of approval) on the rear side of the base. The underside is marked with TMK-6 The Missing Bee trademark. Initialed and dated 1982 by the painter. Made in W. Germany.

Old style TMK 1-7. New style TMK 1-6. First created in 1935 by master sculptor Reinhold Unger. In 1956, the mold was restyled by Theo R. Menzenbach and made approximately 2 inches smaller. The halo was changed at that time from the open style to the flat style. Produced in various colors: white overglasze, pastel blue cloak, brown cloak, ivory cloak, and pastel yellow. Also been found in reddish brown terra cotta finish, signed "M.I. Hummel" with the "crown" trademark in both 10/I and 10/3 sizes. Old catalouges list it as large as 14 inches. Some earlier models appear with only the number 10 (no size designator). Also called "Sitting Madonna with Child" or "Virgin With Flowers" in old catalougues. Sometimes incised 10/3 instead of 10/III. Both 10/I and 10/III are (TW) "Temporarily Withdrawn".

Sometimes call "Little Gooseherder" in older catalogues. Older models have a blade of grass between the geese. This has been eliminated or reduced in size on newer versions. The large size 47/II was restyled with the new textured finish in the 1970s. Sometimes incised 47.2 or 47/2 instead of 47/II. Large size was listed as TW "temporarily withdrawn" on the 1993 price list. Recent information located in an old Goebel product book indicates that master sculptor Arthur Moeller in 1935 produced samples in the 47/0 size with a round attached "pot" and another with an oblong attached bowl.

3 inches tall by 2-1/4 inches wide. "Silson" Unsigned Hummel figural pin of a boy and girl made in Germany in the 1940's.
"Silson" created a series of these child-like pins based on a licensing agreement with Hummel. Made of pot metal, each measures approximately 3" tall. This series was designed by William Regelmann for "Silson".
Kathy Flood has a chapter in her "Warman's Costume Jewelry Figurals" book on page 39 with the history and photos of these pins. These illustrations are from drawings of the Bavarian nun, Sister Maria I. Hummel. "Silson" evidently made slight changes to her illustrations so that they could patent these children in fun loving settings.
In 1933, several years after entering the convent, her artwork was published in a book when she was 24, unfortunately she died at the age of 37. Kathy Flood lists the names of 14 of the known Hummel brooches in her book.

Created to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik. Founded in 1871, the factory is still family owned, and a tribute to the excellence of German handcrafted art. Crafted in cold cast porcelain and hand painted, Generations of Excellence, has been sculpted to compliment the introduction of the special edition Merry Wanderer (Hum 11/2/0).

Size: 6-3/4”. TMK: 1-7. First modeled by master sculptor Reinhold Unger in 1936. Early crown mark models are sometimes found with bright orange-red saddle on horse. Old name: “Knight St. George” or “St. George and Dragon.” The original drawing by Sister Hummel for this figurine was reproduced in the 1934 German edition of “Das Hummel Buch,” published by Emil Fink of Stuttgart, Germany. Restyled in 1986. Variations in the wings of the dragon and minor changes in the tail of horse. It is likely that the factory was experiencing excessive breakage in this figurine. Was listed as (TW) “Temporarily Withdrawn” from production in January 1999, but could possibly be reinstated at some future date.

Sizes: 2-3/4" to 4-1/14” X 4-3/4". This figurine was made in two sizes. The small size is a candleholder while the larger size is a figurine. Both were modeled by master sculptor Reinhold Unger in 1935, 27/I is so similar to III/40/I that it can be extremely difficult to tell the difference unless they are clearly marked. The small size “Joyous News” candleholder (27/I) is no longer produced and is considered rare. Usually found only in crown trademark. Can be found with the candleholder on the front side or on backside. 27/I is also sometimes found with light purple shoes. Some models designed to hold .6cm size candles while others designed to hold 1cm size candles. The small size also found with incised number III/27/1 which indicates made for larger 1cm size candles. The larger size “Joyous News” is rare in the older trademarks: TM 1, TM 2, and TM 3 and was reinstated in 1978 using the original molds, and the original number 27/3 (Arabic 3). In 1979, when it was restyled with the new textured finish the number was changed to 27/III (Roman III). Both 27/3 and 27/III can be found in TM 5. Large size (27/III) was listed as (TW) “Temporarily Withdrawn” in January 1999.

The first Goebel piece ever lit with fiber optics, this collector's set includes a porcelain display with a Christmas tree glowing with multicolored lights and a star. And a roaring fireplace casting a red and amber hue over the scene. Above the fireplace, the mantel is decorated with festive greenery. Sculpted by Helmut Fisher in 2005. Price is for set of two, boy and girl. Modeled by master sculptor Reinhold Unger in 1935. These figurines are weighted with sand through a hole on the bottom and closed with a cork or plastic plug. Sometimes sealed with a paper sticker and inscription "75 Years Goebel." The girl is the same as HUM 3 and HUM 8. The boy was made only as part of bookend set and not normally sold separately. This policy, however, was changed and the boy could be purchased alone and unweighted. This was done mainly to satisfy collectors who desired a figurine to match the 1980 Annual Bell that had a motif similar to the bookend boy. In 1981, HUM 415 "Thoughtful" was released in the U.S. market to match the annual bell. "Bookworm" bookends were "temporarily withdrawn" (TW) from production on December 31, 1989. Bookworm boy has been found with number "14" only (NO "A") incised on the bottom. Boy was called "Learned Man" in very old catalogues.

Exact size: 6-1/2 inches tall. Ferrandiz Collection. Bottom of base is incised with the limited edition number: 405/2250. Back of base is incised with the "Ferrandiz" signature. Anri medal disk trademark (used from 1982-1988) is present on bottom of base as a mark of origin and authenticity. Made in Italy.
Each single item is hand carved according to the artist’s master piece. The carver requires up to 20 cutting irons in many different sizes and forms to facilitate the production of a figure. The soft lime wood is particularly suitable for carving and allows each figure its own special character. As a result, a truly unique piece is created.
All items are hand painted. Trained painters use water colors and the finest brushes, as they allow the wood grain to remain visible. A specific follow-up treatment lends these figures the originality of a genuine and antique woodcarving.

There is much size variation in this figurine. Originally modeled by master sculptor Arthur Moeller in 1935 as a candleholder. Restyled in 1964, reduced slightly in size and made with a solid cake rather than with a hole for a candle. Can be found in trademark 3 with or without hole for candle. Called "Congratulatory Visit" in some old catalogues. Very early models have brightly colored striped socks. Has also been found in "crown" trademark without the hole for candle. Listed as (TW) "Temporarily Withdrawn" in January 1999.
